New Promotional Campaigns
Summer
travel is expected to rise 2.5 percent over last year with
83 percent of Americans planning at least one trip this season.
Twenty-eight percent plan to travel more than last year, studies
released by the Travel Industry Association and the Automobile
Association of America said.
To capitalize on this fact, one new automobile company is giving
buyers free gasoline for the summer. Suzuki will give
consumers who buy a new car a Visa debit card for free gas. "Suzuki
recognizes the economic impact resulting from soaring gas prices
and thought this promotion was a great way to entice eager
car buyers," said Gary Akin, VP-sales of Suzuki's auto
arm.
There is a catch: Buyers must finance their new car. So Suzuki
should be able to manage demand generated by the promotion
because not everyone will qualify. And of course, the offer
should generate more showroom traffic for Suzuki, which can
still sell new vehicles to consumers who don't qualify.
